LAKE MBURO
We stayed at Mihingo Lodge overlooking Lake Mburo for just one night, enroute back to Entebbe. Mihingo is built on a huge, non-arable rock outcrop.
Our one dinner there was memorable for several reasons, but two are most notable: First, we were visited by a bushbaby (which cannot be photographed because flash temporarily blinds it). Second, dessert was a dense chocolate brownie in the mug with a dollop of fresh-whipped cream and accompanying pitcher of warm, rich, bittersweet chocolate sauce. We will be talking about that brownie for years.

Alert to arachnophobes: you should probably avoid East Africa. One of the three identical and gargantuan visitors - the ones we know about, anyway - sharing our cabin at Mihingo Lodge.

Eventually they ran off. Frightened that we'd pull a Chris Christie on them, perhaps?

ENTEBBE BOTANICAL GARDENS
Afrer driving through the purgatory that is Kampala -it makes the Cross Bronx look like a scenic leisurely drive - we visited Entebbe Botanical Gardens. The Brits created it, preserving the native flora and also transplanting some species endemic to the U.K.
